Borrowers must pay a fixed percentage of their monthly payment; amount of reduction is determined by previous enrollment in hardship accommodation.
Borrowers are encouraged to pay more than the minimum during the hardship period to reduce interest accrual.
Reduced payments apply for 6 months, after which full payments resume. If hardship continues, one additional 6-month extension may be requested.
Missing payments can lead to default with serious consequences. Enrolling in autopay is recommended.
